Unexpected often comes. This saying is widespread and certainly applies to Laura Kraut's weekend.
She decided to show her new horse directly in a Grand Prix in Wellington and won right away.

Actually, it's a funny story how Kraut got this horse.
Baloutinue is the name of her new partner. The eleven-year-old son of Balou du Rouet was previously presented by Adam Prudent. In the possession he stood the Prudent family. This in turn is good friends with Laura Kraut. The gelding has the multiple Nations Cup winner for some time in the eye.
But the Prudent family did not want to sell the bay until recently. Since also the multiple inquiries of Kraut helped nothing.
Recently, the gelding had still won a Grand Prix in Wellington with Adam Prudent himself in the saddle.
After that Katie and Henry Prudent had changed their mind, Kraut reported. As a potential buyer, the couple of course immediately thought of their good friend Laura Kraut. This was naturally overjoyed to have the gelding now with itself in the stable. The owner is not Kraut herself, but her sponsors, St. Bride's Farm.
The team olympia winner believes to have with the Hanoverian "one of the best horses in the world" in the stable.

"What I've always loved about him is that he reminds me of a thoroughbred. He has a lot of blood, he's brave, he's agile and he has all the best qualities that a Thoroughbred has. He is just a fast horse. That's the quality of a thoroughbred, because I didn't ride a fast round. I took more strides than other people, but he's just so fast. He lands and comes off the jump very, very fast, so I think I had an advantage there," the U.S. Amazon enthused.

Of the total 44 starters, only 10 pairs made it to the jump-off. In 2nd place was a colleague and also a friend of Laura Kraut, Beezie Madden. She also stayed clear with her top horse Breitling LS.
3rd place went to the partner of Martin Fuchs, Paris Sellon. She rode the mare "Anna Jo", which is sired by Acodetto.

So it remains exciting in Wellington!
